Put your seat belts on this post is going to be quite sappy, don’t say I didn’t warn you…
So about 24 years ago I met Rob, he was 8 years old and I was just born. I obviously don’t remember this and I’m not sure that he does either but what I do remember is how much I adored him when I was growing up. My mom would drop me off at my aunt’s (Rob’s mom) house so she could babysit me and I would follow Rob around all day. With his big head phones trying to clean and doing important things that a 15 year old needed to do. He had obtained a little 7 year old shadow. He was never annoyed, at least to my knowledge that his little cousin wanted to always hang out. Fast forward 6 years later, my cool cousin had just graduated from college and moved in with my mom and me. I was so excited to get to live with someone who was like a sibling to me. He shared with me his musical interests, we hung out at Applebee’s to get half-price appetizers, he took me to my first concert, taught me about life and lessons I would learn myself 10 years later. I always held his opinion in high regard so he met all of my boyfriends and I met most of his girlfriends.
I met Denise before Rob and her officially dated and were “just friends” when I graduated from college and moved home. I immediately liked her, which is unusual. She took an interest in my life which I appreciated and I went to her often with my own relationship problems. She was so fun to be around so I really wanted Rob & Denise to make this official. I wanted to keep her around, maybe for selfish reasons but I also noticed how Rob & Denise connected on a much deeper level than his previous relationships. I would rave about her to my friends, so excited for them to meet Denise!
Rob texted me when I was in Chicago shooting an engagement session letting me know that he was going to pop the question that evening. I was so incredibly excited. I’ve been waiting for this day for quite some time. I’ve been talking with Rob about being in his future wedding for as long as I can remember. And I’m so excited that this wedding is with Denise. I can so happily stand up with these two and say that I fully support their future marriage.
Shooting their engagement session was honestly a dream come true. These two people mean so much to me and it was such an honor to document their real love.
We hit up all of their favorite spots around Cleveland, first Lakewood Park, then Rob’s old street where they shared their first kiss and where Rob later proposed!, then headed to Ohio City, Sweet Moses in Gordon Square, Rocky River Park for sunset photos, then took a break for dinner :), and lastly Superior Viaduct for a nighttime shot of the skyline! Such a wonderful evening with two of my favorite people.
