This wedding was super special to me for a lot of reasons. First off, these two were the first couple to ever book me as a wedding photographer (they’ve been planning for a long time..). Another reason is because I’m now good friends with the bride. She went to college with my best friend from high school (who is in the wedding, another treat for me!), so I actually met Rachel about six years ago! When I graduated from college and moved home and was trying to get my business going, I asked Rachel & Matt if I could photograph them for some practice (this was even before they got engaged). They happily obliged and I’m so glad. This really kickstarted our friendship and my business. I owe them quite a lot and I’m so thankful to have them in my life!
Rachel & Matt had been planning their wedding for about a year and a half (officially) and they put their heart & soul into this thing! They DIY’d anything they could, Rachel made the flowers, Matt designed the invitations and website. I think it came together quite perfectly. They sprinkled some touches of Disney into the wedding with their table numbers and movie quotes, used balloons during their “Up” inspired first look, and they both had Ellie badges.
Some of my favorite moments from the wedding day were the first look at Secrest Arboretum, Matt’s reaction was fantastic and so touching; Toby, their pup, making his debut as the ring bearer; the wonderful vows, A+ toasts, Rachel laughing hysterically during the father/daughter dance, Jim’s nonstop dancing, and when I got to dance with the bride & groom during my favorite wedding songs!
Special shoutout to fellow RIT grad, Maureen MacGregor for second shooting and hanging out with me!
You guys are the best, I’m so lucky to call you my friends!
