I have been documenting this family since its inception. I was there for Noah’s birth, took Asher’s 1 year pictures, Tara’s maternity session for Canaan, and now finally the whole clan. The Klefsaas family moved to Texas almost a year ago so I haven’t been able to photograph them as much as I’d like but I always make time when they come back to visit.
During my college years I really enjoyed spending time with families and doing “A Day in the Life”. We had to do several of those assignments during my first and second quarters of photojournalism classes. I like to take a similar approach when I’m doing a family lifestyle session. I admire the messy houses, and more importantly, the life that is lived inside of them. Sure formal photos are nice, but it’s hard to get a good sense of real life, of the in-between, the unposed moments. This session was a little of both.
We managed to have a warm-ish day amongst the cold ones, so it was the perfect day for a mini session with Tara and her men. I love watching this beautiful family grow and I can’t wait for the next opportunity to photograph!
